The City of Canton Welcomes Southern Bancorp
Southern Bancorp has been committed to helping families, businesses and communities across Arkansas and Mississippi flourish. They are able to accomplish this by providing unique tools designed to help everyone along the path to opportunity - no matter their starting point.
We are excited to see them bring this mission-focused style of banking to Canton and serve this growing community.
The Madison County Chamber, along with the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership hosted a Ribbon Cutting celebration for the new Canton location of Southern Bancorp on Wednesday, April 26th. They are located at 648 E Peace Street in the former Trustmark building.
The event opened with Southern Bancorp staff member Angelique Cooper singing the national anthem. John Olaimey, President and CEO of Southern Bancorp Bank, shared a few words about their mission and what they see for the future in Canton. Anthony Young, President of Southern Bancorp Community Partners - a 501c3 loan fund and community development financial institution - spoke about their goal to connect with other community partners in the area and what they have to offer. Joe Ricotta, Regional Chief Executive Officer, introduced other staff members and touched on the impact Southern Bancorp's style of banking hopes to have on the community. He then introduced the Mayor of Canton, Dr. Truly.
Mayor Truly welcomed the crowd and introduced some of his key staff members. He showed his full support for the opening of the new branch in Canton, for continued economic development in the area, and the opportunities Southern Bancorp would bring to Canton residents.
Jason Hairston, Co-Chair for the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership Ambassador Council, welcomed Southern Bancorp to the area and presented them with their Chamber plaque.
Mary Burnette, Executive Director for the Madison County Chamber, welcomed them to Madison County and presented them with their Chamber plaque with a promise to supply a picture of the ribbon cutting the following month.
Mary then welcomed Jan Collins, Executive Director of the Madison County Business League and Foundation and invited her to say a few words. Jan also welcomed Southern Bancorp to Madison County and spoke on the impact they would have towards economic development in Canton.
The event concluded with Mayor Truly cutting the ribbon!
Southern Bancorp will also be opening a new location in Gluckstadt off Calhoun Station Parkway. The Gluckstadt Madison Business Alliance is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, April 27th at 11am.
